"At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child's success is the positive involvement of parents." Jane D. Hull
What role do parents play in Applied Behavior Analysis?Parents are often times unsure about their role in providing treatment to their child. ABA is an effective tool to teaching children new developmental skills, decreasing problem behaviors, and expanding their strengths. If a parent does not learn how to implement at least some ABA strategies, their child may become confused or will only perform some new skills with the therapist and not with the parent. However, if a parent does implement ABA strategies with their child to increase or maintain positive behaviors they have learned on therapy their efforts can optimize therapy. When parents employ positive reinforcement, their child will seek to communicate more, demonstrate more positive behaviors when they want attention, and develop pro-social behaviors that will benefit them their entire life. The role of parents is pivotal as far as how much their child will learn and how fully they learn it.

Parent Observation |
What does CEC's parent education program teach? Our parent training, teaches why specific behaviors occur and how to effectively respond to their children. We teach the power of reinforcement with a positive parenting approach. Once that foundation is established, the parents are then taught tools and strategies to confidently respond to their child's actions and reactions. Naturally, this allows parents to feel empowered.

Parent observation of treatment sessions is one avenue CEC uses to educate parents about ABA therapy and how it is being used with their child. Our state-of-the-art treatment center allows for parents to come and watch their child without interrupting the session. Video-cameras though-out the building and a private viewing room prevents the child from knowing their parent is watching providing an authentic sample of their child learning in treatment.
Parent Orientation for CEC Treatment Services
Before the first treatment session at Child Enrichment Center, we encourage parents to complete or Parent Orientation. This is the best way to understand fully the services we provide, and your rights and responsibilities during treatment.
